However, it appears that the information has been moved to another section of the website: https://www.epa.gov/east-palestine-oh-train-derailment/settlement-update.

Renamed page frmo "Climate Resiliency at EPA" to "Facility Resiliency at EPA;" removed references to Biden era EOs and plans.

Section on "Air Quality and Environmental Justice" removed.

Under the “Supporting Communities” side bar, the “Strategies to Minimize Displacement” link was deleted, and now leads to a 404 "Page Not Found" error. Additionally, a Spanish translation of a PDF document was removed. Previously, there was also a Spanish version of the “Environmental Contaminants Often Found at Brownfield Sites (pdf)”. The Spanish version appears to have been deleted (“Contaminantes Ambientales que se Encuentran a Menudo en Sitios Brownfield (pdf)”).The rest of the Spanish PDFs remain on the website.

The phrase “climate change” was deleted several times throuhgout the page and replaced with a number of other words, primarily “extreme weather” or “natural hazards." Additionally, two links related to climate change were removed from the “Learn More” box: (1) “Climate Change and Human Health” and (2) “Incorporating Climate Considerations in an ABCA (pdf).”

Added a new question to the FAQ page, “18. Does EPA certify "environmental professionals"? Will EPA advise me on how to qualify as an "environmental professional”?”

Deleted all publications tagged as having environmental justice as a key word. This includes articles on racial and economic disparities in exposure to air pollution, EJ and wildfire smoke, and guides on environmental justice tools such as EJScreen and EnviroAtl back through 2022. Also added new publications, including one that is tagged environmental justice, entitled “Wildland Fire Smoke Adds to Disproprtionate PM2.5 Exposure in the United States”.

Removed the word "clean" from a link to the Clean Energy Innovator Fellowship. The URL for that link also had the word "clean" removed. It appears the fellowship has also been renamed.

Removed all the page's content, including data and infographics from the FY2023 Federal Government Sustainability Scorecard. The page indicates the FY2024 OMB Federal Sustainability Scorecards are under development.

Removed section titled “Changing Climate” which discussed how rising temperatures and more extreme climate events can impact Underground Storage Tank sites. Removed links to guides for planning UST cleanups in a changing climate. This information was replaced with a section called “Severe Weather – General Resources”, the new links do not provide guidance, they offer only a checklist and spreadsheet to report the damage to a tank from severe weather.

DOT's Advisory Committee on Transportation Equity page was redirected to DOT's main Office of Civil Rights page.

Removal of "Environmental Justice" as an area of interest option for searching case studies

Removed entry for the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC) Office of Environmental Justice and External Civic Rights (OEJECR), including its definition and links to the Council’s page and Charter. Removed entry for the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council (WHEJAC) as well.

Removal of navigation menu link for "Environmental Justice in Regulatory Analysis," an removal of a sentence about and link to finding past Environmental Economics seminars.

Removal of the phrases "environmental justice," "underserved," and "low-income." Replaced the term "vulnerable" with "disaster-prone." Removal of links to the American Rescue Plan and Community Change Grant Program.

Two deletions on the “Citizen Excellence in Community Involvement Award” page, which contains year by year info on award recipients going back more than two decades. The phrase environmental justice was removed from this paragraph: “The Eastwick Lower Darby Creek community has faced long-standing [ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE] issues due to a history of flooding, toxic dumping, and heavy industry in the area spurred by the largest-ever U.S. urban renewal project.” The second deletion instance is a ~200 word section of the last paragraph, under heading “2002 Award Winner: Harold Mitchell.” Deleted information is focused on environmental justice partnerships that Mitchell contriburted to, including EPA grants related to EJ, Superfund, and Brownfields redevelopment initatives.

Removal of the phrases "inclusive", "tribes", "overburdened", and "low-income."

Removed the words "socially diverse" and "environmental justice" from the page.

Language changes to remove adjectives like "equity", "low-income", "underserved", "overburdened", etc. The link to "Clean Citites Energy and Environmental Justice Initiative" was removed, and a sentence was changed from "...support people in choosing EVs over gas-powered vehicles" was changed to "...support people in choosing the vehicle that's right for them."

Two links were removed from the ACRES FAQ webpage: (1) removal of “Assessment, Cleanup and Redevelopment Exchange System Release Notes”; (2) Removal of EJ from “Environmental Justice Strategies to Minimize Displacement” (now: “Strategies to Minimize Displacement”).

Language was changed to remove reference to equity and justice. Text was changed from "residents of all incomes, races and ethnicities" to "all residents."; there was the removal of all adjectives like "racial", "low-income", "distressed", "vulnerable", "equitable", and "disparities." Reference and links to "Equitable Development Principles and Scorecard," and other equity-related policy and tool resources were removed.

Removal of paragraph about EPA’s Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants program. Removed the terms "environmental justice," "disadvantaged," and "underserved," and replaced the phrase "environmental and climate justice challenges" and "emergent challenges."

Removed paragraph about considering EJ and equitable development with climate change, and replaced the term "vulnerable" with the term "at risk" in several sentences.

All links and information related to environmental justice was removed.

Information about Black and Indigenous populations more sensitive to longer pollen seasons, and the cited sources for that statement, were removed.

Removed EPA Office of Environmental Justice link. In addition, information on “Community Profiles” was deleted from the “Superfund Community Involvement Tools and Resources” webpage. Here is the deleted text: “The community profile is a narrative that describes the community affected by the Superfund site; summarizes demographic information; and identifies significant subgroups in the population, languages spoken, and other important characteristics of the affected community. It also should address whether the community might bear a disproportionate burden of exposure or environmental health effects due to race/ethnicity, national origin, or income compared to other communities (i.e., issues related to environmental justice). The community profile is an important element of the CIP[stands for Community Involvement Plan], which is a required activity.”

Several changes to “ACRES Training, Tips, and Tools” EPA page. Deletion of PDF reference guides for ACRES users. Other deleted information: pdf reference documents and quick guides related to ACRES program, info on grant recipients and training modules, technical assistance training info. Addition of a table of grant information, which may be a reorganization of information that was removed Hard to understand the grant minutia language to deduce level of significance here. Bottom of page has “Importrant Note” box that mentions organizational changes to the website: “In an effort to improve user access, EPA is moving Instructions, Quick Guides and ACRES Release Notes from this website to applicable locations in ACRES.”

The EPA webpage "Funding Opportunities about Wasted Food" was removed in its entirety and now responds with a "Sorry, but this web page does not exist," 404 error. The deleted content includes: information about EPA funding for grants related to food waste, including info on recycling infrastructure grants for tribes and intertribal consortia, grants for environmental justice communities, and other federal agency grants from the US Department of agriculture related to sustainable food systems. This seems very significant and the grant information mentions dollar amounts that are in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Many outgoing links also removed. Multiple grant deadlines are mentioned as upcoming in March and May 2025. Deletion of that info suggests that these grant programs and application cycles are being terminated or substantially altered.

Environmental justice and equity-related language removed throughout the page. Section on the draft National Plan to Combat Plastic Pollution, which largely focused on the intersections with environmental justice, was removed. In the section about public comments on the draft plan, the prompt questions about how plastic pollution impacts vulnerable communities, were all removed.

Removal of EJScreen and its related links from all of the tools lists.

Climate Change, Land, and Emergency Management page was removed; returns a 404 error.

Removal of 3 links from the “Office of Land and Emergency Management Program Benefits Page”: (1) EJScreen; (2) “High Resolution Site Characterization at Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Release Sites – Applicability, Benefits, and Costs (pdf)”; (3)“Leaking Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Cost Study (pdf)”. A header that previously read, “Leveraging Economic Opportunities and Jobs and Mitigating Climate Change” has had the climate change part removed (it now reads, “Leveraging Economic Opportunities and Jobs”). Under the header, a few sentences of information about an Ellen MacArthur Foundation report on circular economy strategies has been deleted. Other deletions appear throughout the page, most all relate directly to EJ screen and discussion of EJ and climate change topics.

One section of the Superfund Climate Resiliance webpage— info under a subheader titled “Climate Adaptation at Superfund Sites” has been removed. Lost content includes a paragraph of information about a 2021 EPA OLEM directive related to considering climate resilience throughout the superfund cleanup process at non-NPL superfund sites. 6 bullet points deleted. Removal of links to 3 PDF files: “Consideration of Climate Change at Contaminated Groundwater Sites”; “Green Remediation and Climate Resilience”; and “OLEM Dir. No. 9355.1-120.”

Reducing Future Change page was removed, including RE-powering mapper. Returns a 404 error.

All of the transportation.gov/priorities pages redirect to transportation.gov. On the DOT homepae, the featured text about the value of transborder freight was changed to featured text about the average cost of airline fuel. Links about Transportation secretary Sean Duffy were added.

On the “Cleaning Up, Protecting and Preserving Tribal Lands” page, the featured information box that had three rotating images with text about funding and training opportunities for tribes was replaced with a link to “Updated UST Compliance Factsheets for Tribes” with a subheader that reads: “EPA developed these fact sheets to help owners and operators of underground storage tanks in Indian country comply with the 2015 UST regulations.”

The page was removed.

Modification to content on the ACRES FAQ page. Note: ACRES stands fopr Assessment, Cleanup, and Redevelopment Exchange System and is an online database that recipients of Brownfield grants use to submit data to the EPA. Three categories of FAQ information have been removed (General Information, General Property Information, and Property-Specific Information). The prior FAQ's were extensive (21 questions and answers) and quite specific (as in, questions could plausibly have been submitted by members of the public); the new page is substantially reduced-- they are generic FAQs (all new) and there are only 4 of them.
